Book Review: Romance Your Brand by Zoe York

Fresh Take on Romance Series and Genre Fiction in General

If you're not familiar with Zoe York she writes primarily romance novels. She uses romance throughout the book for example, but I find that you could use this advice in whatever genre you currently write in or are about to write in.
Some of the things she covers are book packaging (covers, blurbs, ad copy), high concept ideas, and writing in a series.
I'm not at a full 100% or 5 stars for this book because I've read books that go deeper on most if not all of these topics before. So, for me, there isn't much new info. For instance, Master Your Genre goes deeper on how to research your genre and hit reader expectations.
If you have not yet read a ton of genre fiction writing guides this could be a great starter book.
Romance Your Brand show authors how to build a marketable genre fiction series. She focuses on the Romance genre but the tips and tricks are applicable to any genre of fiction. She goes over high concepts, taglines, blurbs, and marketing letting you know why she believes you should figure out all that before you write your first book.

Should You Buy It? If you are new to writing, looking to write a series, or are in the romance genre - YES

  • You are so interesting! I don’t suppose I’ve read something like that before. So good to discover another person with some genuine thoughts on this issue. Seriously.. many thanks for starting this up. This site is one thing that is required on the internet, someone with a bit of originality!
